Semi-Automatic Precision Tooth Setting for Professional Blade Maintenance
Semi-Automatic Precision Tooth Setting for Professional Blade Maintenance
The BMT250 Dual-Sided Tooth Setter is a semi-automatic electric machine designed to ensure accurate, repeatable, and efficient tooth setting for bandsaw blades used in sawmilling operations. Engineered for small to medium-sized sawmills and professional blade maintenance workshops, the BMT250 delivers consistent tooth geometry that directly influences cutting precision, surface finish quality, and blade lifespan.
Precision Dual-Sided Tooth Setting
The BMT250 sets two teeth per cycle, significantly increasing productivity compared to manual solutions. The machine is equipped with an electric power feed system driven by a 1-phase 0.18 kW motor with gearbox, ensuring smooth and stable blade advancement throughout the entire process. On average, a complete blade can be prepared within approximately 2–3 minutes, depending on blade length and tooth count.
Designed for dual-sided operation, the BMT250 semi-automatically sets both left and right teeth according to the required “left/right/straight” tooth pattern. Proper tooth setting ensures optimal kerf width, effective sawdust evacuation, and stable cutting performance. Accurate offset from the blade body is essential for preventing overheating, excessive vibration, wavy cuts, and premature blade failure.
Wide Blade Compatibility
The BMT250 accommodates bandsaw blades from 25 mm to 75 mm (1"–3") in width and supports tooth spacing ranging from 13 mm to 32 mm (½"–1¼"). This versatility allows operators to maintain a broad range of blade types and profiles used in various sawing applications. The setter is particularly well-suited for integration with the BMS250 bandsaw blade sharpener, forming a complete and efficient blade maintenance system.
Accurate Measurement and Calibration
Precision in tooth setting is achieved through a system of dedicated dial gauges. Each set bolt and anvil is linked to a separate dial indicator, providing accurate measurement of tooth offset. Two independent dial gauges display the set values for both left and right teeth, allowing precise adjustment before and during operation.
For additional verification, the use of a Set Master Gauge is recommended to periodically double-check the setting values and ensure long-term consistency. The Set Master Gauge is included as standard equipment.
Prior to operation, calibration of the dial gauges and correct blade positioning in the clamp are required. Proper blade alignment and controlled setting depth guarantee consistent tooth geometry and reliable cutting results.
Intelligent Control and Automation
The BMT250 is controlled via a central electrical control box equipped with adjustable tooth-counting sensor, automatic tooth counter (adjustable for different blade lengths), auto/manual toggle switch for blade advancement, stop/reset button, motor on/off indicator light, voltage indicator.
The integrated automatic tooth counter ensures that the machine stops precisely after all teeth have been set, eliminating the risk of over-processing and enhancing operational efficiency. The smooth electric auto-feed mechanism maintains stable blade movement throughout the process, reducing operator fatigue and ensuring uniform tooth advancement.
