How to Sharp the Blades Properly

By Wood-Mizer, Europe

1. Make sure the profile of grinding wheel is the same like the blade profile.

2. Install the blade into the tooth sharpener.

3. Check if the blade pusher moves the blade into the proper position and, if yes, whole profile must be covered by the grinding wheel.

4. IMPORTANT! Correct the blade pusher position if necessary. If you forget to do this correction, you will very quickly destroy the grinding wheel.

5. When the blade position is correct, check how strong the wheel touches the blade. Turn the wheel with finger and you should feel very slight resistance. If necessary make a correction.

6. Start the motor and check if the sparks are visible on the whole blade profile. If not, adjust the pusher position.

7. Based on Wood-Mizer’s experience, no more than 0.1 – 0.15 mm of metal should be removed per cycle. Wood-Mizer recommends to do a minimum of two sharpening cycles.
