The Wood-Mizer MP260 3-Sided Planer/Moulder is a compact, professional woodworking machine designed for workshops that require efficient three-sided machining without the additional cost of a fourth cutterhead. Developed in response to customer demand, it is an ideal solution for manufacturers of flooring, wall panels, cladding, mouldings, furniture components, and door and window frames.
Combining planing and moulding in a single operation, the MP260 produces accurately machined, finished components in one pass, helping increase productivity while reducing handling time and saving valuable workshop space.
The machine is equipped with three independently driven cutterheads – one top horizontal cutterhead and two vertical side cutterheads – powered by three electric motors with a total installed power of 9 kW. Operators can engage only the cutterheads required for the job, improving energy efficiency and minimizing unnecessary power consumption.
The MP260 processes material from 20 to 240 mm wide and 15 to 95 mm high during three-sided machining. Material is transported smoothly by four steel feed rollers and a polyurethane exit roller that protects the finished surface from marking. The standard feed speed is 8 m/min, while an optional variable feed system allows speeds from 2 to 11 m/min for greater flexibility.
Designed for everyday workshop use, the machine features a heavy-duty cast-iron work table that minimizes vibration and delivers outstanding machining accuracy and surface quality. Quick table adjustment with a hand crank and fast cutter knife changes make setup simple and reduce downtime between production runs.
The standard machine includes compact 400 mm infeed and outfeed tables, which can be upgraded to 1.2-metre tables when handling longer workpieces. Three dust extraction ports efficiently remove chips, helping maintain a clean working environment and consistent machining performance. Optional helical cutterheads and caster wheels further expand the machine's capabilities.
Built on the proven MP260 platform, the 3-sided version delivers the precision, durability, and reliability professional woodworkers expect while providing an economical solution for applications where three-sided machining is all that is required.
For workshops requiring complete four-sided machining in a single pass, the MP260 is also available in a 4-sided configuration. This version adds a bottom horizontal cutterhead driven by a fourth independent motor, enabling simultaneous machining of all four faces of the workpiece. With a total installed power of 12.5 kW and standard 1.2-metre infeed and outfeed tables, it is well suited for more demanding production where maximum productivity and fully finished components are required in a single operation.
