1982
In mid-1982, Time magazine named the Computer “Man of the Year.” The film “E.T.” (“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”) made its debut. Meanwhile, in the state of Indiana, Don Laskowski and Dan Tekulve invented and sold a portable band sawmill and founded the Wood-Mizer company.
1985
The first LT30 band sawmill model, patented in 1985, marked the beginning of the brand’s dynamic growth (the “LT” symbol comes from the founders’ surnames). In just three years, more than 1,300 machines left the Wood-Mizer factory in the USA.
1987
At the end of the 1980s, Wood-Mizer launched its own production of sawmill blades and a blade maintenance system, offering comprehensive support to users.
1989
Richard Vivers begins working with Wood-Mizer, having previously been a machine user and running wood sawing services in Scotland with his wife Madeleine, before joining the company in 1989. Together with his wife, he travels around Western Europe and Scandinavia, promoting the products using a truck with an LT40 sawmill. In 1991, he supports the development of sales in Koło.
1989-1990
Jerzy Hajduczyk, a Pole living in the USA, recognizes the potential of the Wood-Mizer sawmill, especially in timber-frame construction. He contacts the headquarters in Indianapolis, beginning the development of the brand in Europe. Jerzy Hajduczyk brings the first Wood-Mizer sawmills to Poland, assembling them together with Krystian Lendla, the first president of the newly established Wood-Mizer company in Poland. The machines are presented at local industry fairs, and in September 1990, the culmination of these activities is the registration in Koło of the company’s European branch - Wood-Mizer Products (currently Wood-Mizer Industries).
1992-1994
In response to growing demand, production is launched in Koło and a production and assembly hall is built.
1996
The website woodmizer.com is launched.
1997
The LT15 sawmill is introduced to the market - a new, entry-level model that quickly gains the status of the most popular sawmill in the world.
2003
In 2003, production began of the first LT300 industrial sawmill, which in the following years was replaced by the WM3000 model.
2006-2007
In 2006, Richard Vivers becomes President of Wood-Mizer Industries in Koło. A year later, he joins the global Wood-Mizer management board. Under Richard Vivers’ leadership, the company experiences growth. A new sawmill blade production hall is launched, strengthening the plant’s position as a production center for Europe.
2012-2013
The plant reaches record production levels: 2,200 sawmills and 4.5 million meters of sawmill blades. A modern service warehouse and the “Link Building” facility, with a total area of more than 4,000 m², are put into use.
In 2013, Robert Bagiński becomes Managing Director at Wood-Mizer Industries, and in the same year he also becomes a member of the Supervisory Board of Wood-Mizer Holdings in the USA.
2014-2017
The company’s product range expands with new machine and product lines.
TOOLS Catalog – Premium-class tools designed for a wide range of woodworking applications, including circular saw blades, cutterheads and cutting knives for flat surface machining and profiling, drill bits, and sawmill blades.
TITAN sawmilling lines (currently Systems) – Lines designed for industrial wood processing, adapted to the individual production requirements of a company. The offer includes band sawmills, multirip saws, board edgers, and systems for loading, receiving, and sorting material.
Woodworking product group – Woodworking machines, including two- and four-head planer/moulders (e.g. MP360), thickness planers, and table saws, which make it possible to produce finished wood products.
2018
On January 1, 2018, Robert Bagiński takes the position of President of the Management Board of Wood-Mizer Industries.
2020-2022
Under the leadership of Robert Bagiński, the European branch of Wood-Mizer achieves record sales results. In January 2021, the European online store is launched, and in the following months regional e-stores begin to be added. Infrastructure is expanded, with a 2,600 m² production and office hall put into use in 2021, supporting the development of industrial machines and special projects.
In 2017, the new LX series of compact sawmills is introduced, and in 2019 the first sawmill with a wide head, the LT70 WIDE. The Woodworking product group continues to develop. In 2022, the 40th anniversary of the LT40 model is celebrated.
2024
The largest production and shipping facility in the company’s history, with an area of more than 10,000 m², is opened. This is a strategic step strengthening the position of Wood-Mizer Industries as one of the key manufacturers of sawmilling machines and tools in Europe and worldwide.
2025
Wood-Mizer announces the appointment of Ben Brydges as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wood-Mizer Holdings Inc.
